Learning Goal and Objectives: The course aims to support doctoral students in improving their manuscripts for submission to academic journals. It consists of a combination of lectures and small-group sessions. During the course, journal editors and editorial board members will provide insights into key aspects of academic publishing, including strategies for successful publication, journal editorial policies, the publication process, manuscript submission, responding to reviewers’ comments, and the resubmission process. The course is intended for doctoral students who have progressed in their dissertation writing and aim to enhance the quality of their manuscripts to meet the standards of international academic journals. Target journals include, for example, Supply Chain Management: An International Journal, Journal of Supply Chain Management, International Journal of Physical Distribution and Logistics Management (IJPDLM), Journal of Business Logistics, Logistics Research, Journal of Purchasing and Supply Management, and Journal of Humanitarian Logistics and Supply Chain Management (JHLSCM).
The course consists of lectures and small-group sessions. Participants are required to submit revised versions of their papers prior to the course. These papers will be assigned to instructors, who will act as tutors and discussants during the course. In the small-group sessions, participants will receive detailed feedback on their papers and develop a plan to advance their manuscripts to a level suitable for journal submission. Additional assignments will also be provided throughout the course. The primary learning objective of the course is to support doctoral students in their writing process by helping them improve their papers to a publishable standard in international peer-reviewed academic journals.
Target Group: Doctoral students who have made good progress in their dissertation writing. A prerequisite for the course is a good-quality full paper (e.g., one that has been presented at or accepted to a conference, or an equivalent manuscript).
Instruction and Examination: Course consists of lectures and small-group sessions. Participants are required to prepare a revised version of their paper prior to the course. During the course, participants will receive feedback on their papers from the instructors and develop a plan to advance their manuscripts to a level suitable for journal submission. Additional assignments will also be provided throughout the course.

Grading: Passed/failed.
Prerequisites: Doctoral students who are progressed well in their writing stage of doctoral dissertation.
Admittance: A maximum of 20–25 participants will be admitted, preferably from the Logistics and Supply Chain Management Graduate School and KATAJA. Doctoral students from related fields, including those from other countries, are also welcome to apply. Participants will be selected based on the quality of the manuscript. There is no participation fee; however, students are responsible for covering their own travel and accommodation expenses.

Lisa M. Ellram is the James Evans Rees Distinguished Professor of Supply Chain at The Farmer School of Business, Miami University, USA. She teaches courses in Logistics Management and Supply Chain Management. She is co-author of Logistics Management: Enhancing Competitiveness and Customer Value (MyEducator.com), 2015, and five other books. Her research interests include offshore outsourcing, services supply chain management, sustainable supply chain management and all areas of supply chain cost management. She has published in a wide variety of academic journals including California Management Review, Supply Chain Management Review, Journal of Operations Management, Journal of Business Logistics, Decision Sciences Journal, Journal of Supply Chain Management and Journal of Greener Production. She is currently Advising Editor and Editor Emeritus of the Journal of Supply Chain Management.
Beverly Wagner is Professor and Head of Department, Marketing, at the University of Strathclyde, Business School. She is Editor-in-Chief of Supply Chain Management: An International Journal, and serves on the Editorial Board for number of journals including European Business Review and IJOPM. Her research interests relate to SCM with a focus on inter and intra firm collaboration and innovation management, specifically open innovation processes and implementation. She has co-edited special issues for European Business Review, titled “Management Theory and Practice: Bridging the Gap through Multidisciplinary Lenses” and in Supply Chain Management: An International Journal, titled “Supply Chain Management: Current Education Provision and Practitioner Needs.” She has published widely in International peer reviewed journals.
