Course aims and learning goals: Theories and research in service supply chain management is a doctoral course key target group in logistics, supply chain management, industrial management, operations management, and service management students. The course focuses on core concepts and the application of different theories in service supply chain management, and also takes a look to different approaches to theory building, theory testing, methods and applications in the field. The course also covers sustainability aspects in service supply chains. While passing the course students are expected to have a good overview of theories commonly applied in the field and also research in the field. Students are also expected to be able to argue for their own choices of theories.
Target group: Doctoral students preferably from the field of KATAJA logistics and supply chain management graduate school and, but also other doctoral students are also welcomed to apply, also from other countries. Participants will be selected on the basis of their research proposal and motivation letter that should be sent in with the application.
Instruction and examination: The course consists of a reading package that students are requested to submit pre-assignment prior to the course. Lectures will be given in a five day module. Students are expected to write a final assignment after the course that will be evaluated. Participants will present their research proposal and discuss the role and use of theory in their study during the course, and they receive feedback from faculty.
Credits: 6 (ECTS).
Grading: 1-5.
Admittance: 25 participants, preferably from the field of KATAJA’s Logistics and Supply Chain management Graduate School. Also other doctoral students are also welcomed to apply. Participants will be selected on the basis of their research proposal that should be sent in with the application.
